statement
Welcome to my website! My work is primarily about nature, water, earth and plants. The contemporary paintings, photographs, and mixed media pieces I produce, often correlate to examples of nature’s creations which are subject to constant attack by manmade threats. My work also contemplates nature’s generous brilliance in abundant forms. It is influenced by the philosophies of wabi sabi and intimate immensity. I explore how these concepts apply to the natural world and human nature through my art. As an innately curious person I often experiment to find new approaches via art processes or materials. I hope you will enjoy and engage with my work, and possibly pause to consider our place and role in and for the natural environment.
BIO
Jenn Wood is a contemporary painter + photographer in the Boston area. She produces mixed media works and photography. Wood became interested in art at an early age influenced by her creative family. She began producing paintings and photographs in 1974 and has strong bonds with imagery of ocean, plant life and climate events. Wood uses repurposed materials and tools in some of her work to shape the aesthetic, and signify recycling for the benefit of earth and the environment. Her work has been selected by noted museum and gallery curators + jurors in New England, NY, and CA for many exhibitions and collections. It is in the permanent collections of New Britain Museum of American Art, CT; International Center of Photography, NYC; LA Center for Digital Art, CA; The Plumbing Museum, MA; BIDMC Health Center, Boston, and numerous private + corporate collections. Wood is a juried member of the Painting Center Art File Gallery, NYC, shows work at Kentler International Drawing Space Flatfiles, Brooklyn; Denise Bibro FA-NY on Artsy; Jill Krutick FA, NY, and SHIM/ArtCard and Odetta Digital on Artsy. She has been awarded artist residencies at the C-Scape Dune Shack, Provincetown and the Plumbing Museum in MA. Her BFA is from MA College of Art + Design; MFA is from UMass Dartmouth CVPA. Additional courses were completed at SMFA Boston + Pilchuck Glass School, WA.

Cyanotypes produced at 2017 Plumbing Museum residency are the first nine images on the cyanotypes webpage. 2D + 3D printmaking work was primarily produced during 2012-14, several 2-D print pieces are more recently hand painted. *Please note: Numerous gallery exhibition views are shown at the “Work: Installations” webpage.
